Driehaus rakes in corporate cash – I eagerly await lefty outrage
At a time when Congress is debating these issues, and his vote is more valuable then ever, this is interesting to note:
Freshman Rep. Steve Driehaus saw a substantial surge in campaign contributions from industry interests last year as he looks ahead to a November rematch against former seven-term Rep. Steve Chabot.
Driehaus raised $158,441 in 2009 from political action committees funded principally by executives in banking, insurance, health [emphasis mine - ed], manufacturing and other industries. That’s four times the amount the West Price Hill Democrat raised, as a challenger, during the previous election cycle.
“I’m proud of the fact that the business community in Cincinnati sees me as a strong representative. I’ve worked to support economic development and job growth,” he said.
I believe when this kind of fundraising is done by Republicans lefty Democrats are busy shouting accusations of corruption and being a bought and paid for corporate shill.
And yet here is the Congressman acting as if all this means is that he is doing a good job. Interesting.
I can’t wait to read all the press releases and blog posts denouncing Driehaus …
